Jerry T. Whitmire Grading began in 1979 with little more than a single-axle dump truck, a small track loader, and a homemade trailer. Founded by Jerry Whitmire, the company was born from his passion for moving dirt and his desire to supplement his income while working as superintendent of a local rock quarry. In his spare time, Jerry took on small grading projects, quickly earning a reputation for fairness, quality workmanship, and affordable pricing.
By 1983, growing demand and a strong reputation led Jerry to leave the quarry and dedicate himself full-time to grading and excavating. In 1985, he was joined by his son, Denny Whitmire, forming a father-and-son team that worked side by side for more than two decades. Their partnership continued until Jerry’s untimely passing in 2006.
The company was incorporated in 1990, and for more than 35 years, Jerry T. Whitmire Grading, Inc. has proudly provided dependable grading and excavating services to projects throughout the region.
Today, the company is owned and operated by Denny Whitmire, who continues to uphold the same core values instilled by his father—values that remain the foundation of every project we take on:
