Crews are hydroseeding and mulching a project that we just completed in Brevard, N.C. Having our own seeding and mulching equipment gives Whitmire Grading the ability to stabilize a project as soon as it is completed and eliminates any scheduling delays with subcontractors.

Crews have started installing erosion control measures and will begin grading on the new Davidson River in Pisgah Forest. Whitmire Grading subcontracted portions of the work from the general contractor. The new bridge will replace the old and narrow bridge that has been in place for many years. With a turning lane and sufficient width the new bridge will enhance safety and alleviate congestion in the area   

Clearing has started for the construction of this new road near Brevard. After the clearing operation has had time to get a portion of the road cleared bulldozers will be brought in to start grading the road bed.   

Crews are constructing a road on a tract of private property near the Henderson County line. Starting at the foot of the mountain, the road will wind up the hillside for about 3,000 feet to the top of the ridge With the rip rap lined ditches and gravel in place, this section of the road is completed and ready to be seeded. 

On the same project as the other Redirock wall, steps were incorporated into this wall to provide access to the main living level of the house from the garage. Before this access was very limited. 

The Redirock retaining walls that we have been working on in Brevard are near completion. Although there were delays due to weather and materials the project has turned out very nice and the walls have provided the room needed to make the garage at this residence accessible.  

Keith Galloway with Galloway/Bradley Builders is going over the site drawings with one of our equipment operators on a residential project in Brevard, N.C. Whitmire Grading and Galloway/Bradley Builders have worked together on numerous projects over the years giving home owners quality results inside and out.   

On the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend this crew relocated an existing 8 inch waterline that was going to be underneath a proposed structure. This was the only time available to perform the task due to the fact that there were 2 office buildings that wouldn't have water service and would have to be shut down if this work was done any other time. Everything went as planned and there were no problems when the domestic and fire service to the existing buildings were re-pressurized.

Jerry T. Whitmire Grading was the successful bidder on this project, located south of Brevard, that involves the completion of the roads in a foreclosed development to meet the requirements of the Transylvania County subdivision ordinances.

We have started construction of a segmented retaining wall on a project in Asheville, N.C. The blocks used in this type of wall are not as big as the ones used in the redirock walls and can be handled by hand instead of machine. On this particular project we are having to tie into two existing walls with an average height of six to twelve feet, remove some portions of the walls and construct the new ones to the lines and grades designed by the civil engineer
